Semillas Fitó organized the 4th edition of TomatoXperience in Almería, an annual event focused on the cultivation of tomatoes and their rootstocks. This year saw the presentation of the new commercial varieties resistant to the rugose virus.

On the 7, 8 and 9 of March, Semillas Fitó has celebrated the 4th edition of TomatoXperience, where we have had the pleasure of welcoming farmers, agricultural technicians, representatives of cooperatives, supply warehouses and supermarket chains to a presentation of our wide range of tomato and rootstock varieties for both the Almería market and other regions.

Under the slogan “Long live that traditional and special flavour", this edition witnessed an unprecedented exhibition of the most relevant varieties for the market. Within the long life segment, we highlighted the leading qualities of our Ateneo and Alcazaba varieties, the latter with intermediate resistance to the rugose virus (ToBRFV). In the Cherry segment, our star varieties stood out: Mulan and Solemio, awarded the Flavourite seal for their unique flavour. In the traditional segment, Albarado and Carbonero  were showcased as the leading varieties. The icing on the cake is the iconic Monterosa. And finally, in the category of new developments, Wabi-sabi, a new brand launched by the company.

This 4th edition of TomatoXperience was marked by the novelties presented in the G pear segment with MaGneto and in the GG-GGG beef segment, in which we presented the Faladi variety. Our Foodture department, in charge of brands, this year presented Wabi-sabi, a new concept of tomato, which amazed visitors with its irregular shape and surprising flavour. These three new launches have started their first year in the market with excellent prospects in the fields of Almeria.

Another of the main topics during the event was the presentation to all the attendees of  our varieties with intermediate resistance to the rugose virus, focused on our cherry tomatoes: Solemio, Mulan, Ferdinand and Essentia. In addition to our outstanding vine tomato variety Alcazaba, excellent for both conventional and organic cultivation.

TomatoXperience, as is usual, was attended by international customers and colleagues from countries such as Morocco, Italy and Portugal, positioning itself once again as an essential event for Semillas Fitó’s to showcase its broad range of tomatoes and our constant commitment to improvement and innovation.
