We participated in the JapanTurfShow2019

During the second week of November, we were present at the JapanTurfShow2019 where we had the opportunity to make the presentation of the second edition of the Turfgrass Culture Book.  In addition, we were speakers at a conference on professional turf for sports fields in Europe, football and golf, sharing our experience as a leading company in the Japanese market.

Japan has 2000 active golf courses with high maintenance levels and very professional greenkeepers who are at the forefront of lawns management.  The football and rugby stadiums, in turn, also have very high maintenance levels and require the latest generation varieties.

In this sense, some of the varieties of Fito Seeds are already present in Japan.  Agrostis stolonifera TourPro, one of our novelties this year, is already a reference in the magnificent greens of some of the most important Golf Courses in the country, such as in the Greens of Honchiba Holf course around Tokyo.  On the other hand, the varieties of Perennial ryegrass Rinovo, Ringles and Lover are being used for winter overseeding in the main stadiums in Tokyo, Kobe and Osaka.

The most commonly used species in Japan are Zoysia matrella Korai variety and common Zoysia japonica.  For golf greens Agrostis stolonifera and Zoysia matrella Korai are the most popular.  Many golf courses in Japan have double greens.  For Fairways, Collar and Tees it is customary to use Zoysia matrella Korai and for Semirough and Rough Zoysia japonica is currently being used. Football stadiums mostly have a Bermuda or Zoysia base and are overseeded  in autumn and winter with perennial ryegrass.

The latest technologies of photosynthetic lights, fans, heating and hybrid grass are being used. The Spanish league is closely followed.
Semillas Fito is bringing to the japanese market its expertise with high end varieties, disease tolerant and with sustainable management in line with the demand of the turf professionals.
